EDINBORO -- Sociology majors, there's a new club that's not so new for you.

The Sociology Club has been meeting for the past few years on campus but only recently was officially recognized as a club and allotted a budget by the SGA. The club continues to take members and anyone with an interest in sociology is welcome.

“Finally we received a budget, and I'm just thankful that happened this year,” said President Stacy McIntyre.

Last autumn, it co-sponsored a band benefit that raised nearly $200 for Sudanese refugees. That is just a sample of the things the sociology club plans to continue to do in the future.

They also worked with the Meadville NAACP to sponsor a walk from the Underground Railroad places in Meadville to John Brown's farm, with the money raised designated as scholarship funds.

Future events planned include some visits by speakers with sociological significance and projects to promote a friendlier atmosphere on campus.  Most of these events are planned for early next semester, but it's not too late to get involved as this semester comes to an end.

For more information, you can attend the next meeting Monday, April 16, or send an e-mail to s19243m@edinboro.edu.
